Wuhu Ranks amid Top 100 Cities in Building Moderately Prosperous Society

    Competitiveness Think Tank Co., Ltd, an independent third-party organization, and the Credit Committee of China Information Industry Association under the supervision of the National Development and Reform Commission jointly issued the Annual Monitoring Report on the Progress of Chinese Cities in Building Moderately Prosperous Society in All Respects 2017.


    The report concluded a list of evaluation index value from 653 cities in 31 provincial-level administrative regions, including autonomous regions and the municipalities directly under the central government based on the data from monitoring the progress in the fields of economic development, people’s livelihood, cultural construction, ecological environment and social governance in the building of the moderately prosperous society in 2017.


    Eight cities in Anhui Province are listed, namely, Hefei, Wuhu, Ma’anshan, Xuancheng, Bengbu, and Tongling, along with two county-level cities of Ningguo and Tianchang. Among the eight cities, five outperformed the national average of 97.00, in particular, Wuhu standing at107.63.


    Wuhu is located in the southwest of the Yangtze River Delta, with the Southern Anhui Mountains to the south and the Jianghuai Plains to the north. The city is an important center in industry science and education in Eastern China, as well as a national integrated transport hub. As the fifth biggest riverfront city by the Yangtze and the largest port for cargo transportation, foreign trade and container transshipment in Anhui, it is acclaimed as “a giant port city by the Yangtze and the mainstay of Anhui”.
